This itinerary is an excellent Botswana safari for photographers and wildlife enthusiasts looking to experience different ecosystems within the Delta, before finishing in one of the country’s most exciting emerging safari areas.

It pairs classic Okavango beauty with exceptional game viewing, intimate luxury camps and a sense of progression from established Delta channels and islands to the raw drama of Mababe.

Okavango Delta

The Okavango Delta is one of Africa’s most extraordinary safari destinations — a vast inland delta of channels, lagoons, floodplains and islands set improbably within the Kalahari Desert.

Its extraordinary mix of water and land habitats supports exceptional biodiversity, which makes it one of the continent’s great destinations for both wildlife viewing and photography.

Camp One: Wilderness Chitabe Lediba

Wilderness Chitabe Lediba is an intimate camp on the same island as Chitabe, positioned within a varied landscape of savannah, woodland and palm-dotted floodplains. This diversity of habitats supports excellent year-round wildlife viewing and gives photographers a broad mix of scenery and species.

The camp’s small size and carefully positioned tents create a more exclusive and personal safari atmosphere, while game drives in the surrounding area can produce sightings of lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and African wild dog.

  • 3 Nights
  • Intimate Okavango Delta camp
  • Excellent predator and general game viewing
  • Beautiful mix of woodland and floodplain habitats

This is a strong opening to the itinerary, especially for guests wanting both rich wildlife action and classic Okavango scenery.

Camp Two: Wilderness Little Vumbura

Wilderness Little Vumbura offers a more water-oriented Delta experience, set on a peaceful island with access to both land and aquatic environments. Small and secluded, it is one of those camps that captures the romance and tranquillity for which the Okavango is so admired.

The combination of game drives, boating and mokoro excursions adds variety to the safari and gives photographers the chance to capture both wildlife and the softer, more reflective beauty of the Delta’s waterways.

  • 3 Nights
  • Remote island setting
  • Mokoro and water-based experiences
  • Beautifully varied Delta landscapes

Together, Chitabe Lediba and Little Vumbura create a more rounded Okavango experience, with each camp bringing a slightly different character to the journey.

Mababe

Mababe lies to the east of the Okavango Delta and is increasingly recognised as one of Botswana’s most exciting wildlife areas. Vast plains, yellow grasslands, river systems and forest edges create a raw and visually striking safari setting.

It is particularly rewarding for travellers interested in big herds, predator interaction and a more pioneering safari atmosphere away from the better-known classic Delta camps.

Camp Three: Wilderness Mokete

Wilderness Mokete is one of Botswana’s most adventurous contemporary safari camps, designed to place guests right in the middle of the action in a remote and wildlife-rich part of Mababe.

The camp offers a strong sense of drama and immersion, with beautifully designed tented accommodation and access to a remarkably active area known for elephant, buffalo, lions and other plains game. It is especially appealing for guests who want a safari that feels raw, exciting and photographically rewarding.

  • 3 Nights
  • Remote and pioneering Mababe experience
  • Excellent elephant and big herd viewing
  • Highly rewarding for wildlife photography

As a final stop, Mokete gives the itinerary a bolder, wilder finish and adds real contrast to the more water-shaped environments of the Delta.
