Which Destination Is Right for You?

The right safari destination depends less on what is most famous and more on the kind of journey you want. Some destinations are stronger for first-time safaris, some for exclusivity, some for walking safaris and others for safari plus beach or Cape Town combinations.

Choose Kenya

If you want a classic first safari, private conservancies, East Africa variety and a destination that feels approachable without losing safari drama.

Choose Tanzania

If you want Serengeti scale, migration-led planning, iconic safari landscapes and one of Africa’s most elegant safari-and-beach pairings with Zanzibar.

Choose Botswana

If you want privacy, fly-in luxury, low visitor density and a safari experience built around wilderness, exclusivity and beautifully remote camps.

Choose Zambia

If you want walking safaris, stronger bush immersion, exceptional guiding and a safari that feels quieter, deeper and less commercial.

Choose Zimbabwe

If you want elite guiding, classic safari atmosphere, Mana Pools and the natural advantage of combining safari with Victoria Falls.

Choose South Africa

If you want safari as part of a broader luxury journey including Cape Town, the Winelands, the coast and excellent Big Five lodge experiences.

Not sure which direction fits you best? A first safari, a honeymoon, a walking safari and a safari-and-beach trip often suit different destinations — and choosing the right one makes the whole journey work better.

Best Time to Go by Destination

Timing matters in safari planning. Some destinations are strongest in the dry season, some depend heavily on migration timing, and others work especially well when matched to a broader safari-and-beach or Cape Town-style journey.

Botswana

Botswana is usually strongest from May to October, when dry-season conditions make wildlife viewing especially rewarding and Delta water-based safari is at its best.

Zambia

Zambia is generally best from June to October, particularly for classic dry-season safari, walking safaris and stronger wildlife concentrations around rivers and water sources.

Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is especially strong from June to October, when dry-season wildlife viewing, walking safari and combinations with Victoria Falls work particularly well.

Kenya

Kenya offers rewarding safari across much of the year, with July to October especially well known for the Great Migration in the Maasai Mara.

Tanzania

Tanzania’s best timing depends heavily on region and migration movement, which is why safari month and itinerary structure matter especially strongly here.

South Africa

South Africa can work well throughout the year, with safari often strongest from May to September and Cape Town or coastal travel especially appealing in warmer months.

Planning around a specific travel month? The best safari destination often depends on when you want to travel, not just where. We can help match the right country, region and safari style to your timing.

Need Help Choosing the Right Destination?

The right safari depends on how you want the journey to feel — whether that means Botswana’s exclusivity, Zambia’s immersion, Zimbabwe’s balance, Kenya’s easy first safari, Tanzania’s scale, South Africa’s versatility or a Zanzibar beach finish.
